NEW ZEALAND FQRECAST. By TeUgravhrrPreu Auociation. WELLINGTON, Last Night. The Rev. D. 0. Bates, of the Meteorological Office this evening issued the following summary and forecast: — The barometer lias continued low in the South, but a centre of Jow pressure wtutlhf an apparent minimum of 29.20 inches has passed through Oook 'Strait about noon to-day, and (heaivy rain has fallen about these parts. Slain its> lalso reported in the northern and southernmost districts. Westerly winds predominate, strong to gale in parts, but the winds have been very variable. ; (Present indications <are for a change from variable' tp sti'ong south' westerly winds' generally in a short time, when <the barometer is expected to rise everywhere. Unsettled and cloudy weather, with heavy showers,--is probable generally, and colder weather following in the South.
