MELBOURNE, November 20. There was ideal weather, and the wicket was good for the continuation of the M.C.C. v. Victoria match.

Foster and Douglas reviewed the attack, Foster bowling very well, turning from the off and making a great pace from the pitch. Runs came slowly. Laver was caught low ii the slips. Armstrong was short-lived, being dismissed with the second ball through . a unanimous appeal for caught at the .. wickets. Matthews saw Kortlang clean bowled by Hitch, who relieved Foster' -at 235. Kortlang batted steadily for -lti'minutes, scoring four fourers. Three wickets had fallen without a run. The bowling was of a higher standard than on Saturday. When Matthews was dismissed, Hitch, whose average was 0 for 26 on Saturday, had taken two for 35. He was greatly assisted by the wind.
