NEW ZEALAND FORECAST. By Teleoravh — Prut Association. WELLINGTON, Last Night. The Rev. D. C. Bates, of the Meteorological Office this evening issued the following summary and forecast :■*- •TUie westerly storm area which has controlled ithe weather conditions for. a fortnight has continued with increasing intensity to-day, and the barometer at -tlue Bluff this afternoon recorded a pressure-of 28.9 indies. Rain has falen on rthe west coast of tihe South Island, and Jn otlier parts. Present indications are for a heavy westerly gale dn parts, veering to southerly winds, strong to a [heavy gaile feverywiher© after from ten to sixteen hours. Rain is probable generally, and much colder weather, wiith snow on high'lande in the South. Heavy seas are probable on all the westerni coast, aaid onci-easa'ng ishortly 'southwards of Oastlepoint. A rising barometer as duo after about 15 hours.
