OF MR C. HOFFEINS.
News was received in Masiterton islliorjtly after eight o'odock 'last nigjhjt Uhat Sir Charles. Hofteins, a wellknown resident of tjlins district, hlad died suddenly 'at Miauriceville East. It ap|pearsi that Mir Hpffedns left some friends with whom he wias sitting, and wias walking down the paisis&ge wiben he suddenly collapsed and fell to the floor. His Miends went to. hiiis'aasd-sitianoei, and he rentaJrked "I'm alrigShit!" He immediately lapsed into unconscioiusnesis, however, and died in the course of a few minutes. Dk', Prior was' dm/mediately summoned from Ma&terton, but, on arrival, couffld, of course, only pronounce life extinct. The doctor give's it as his .opinion thJat death was due to heart .disease. f llh'e deceased, wM> was ahtoxit Ifb-rty-iseven years, of age, and single, 'had been under medlioal treatment some months ago, but appeared to be much improved of late. ,iL; He, had' lived, in tdDe Miasteirton dAs- ' innqt practically all hi 9 life,'Ms,, parents hieing old residents of Masterton.
