At. the Police Court to-day, eight wSifarf labourer* elected; to be tried' by jury on of tine theft of 220 ibs of tobacco from' the steamer Mioana on the 27tth October. The evidence was to the effect that the oases were in good order when they were stowed at 'Melbourne. On discharging at WdJinpjton, a case was found damaged, andl tobacco' missing. The accused were working in the hold. Wllien being searched one (Young) diropped a plug on the floor. All the defendants, were, committed for trial.
