WELLINGTON WOOL SALE

/Messrs Dalgety and Co., Ltd., re-' port as follows: —The first sale of the season "was held in the Wellington Town Hall on, Tuesday, when a total of 1014 bales was offered by the Associated Brokers, out of which we contributed a catalogue of 393 .bales. The wool in most cases opened up clean and bright, and as regards condition was on a par as compared'.with, last sale of last year. As growers will no doubt have observed, the Home and foreign markets have shown a considerable decline as compared with the corresponding period of last year, and, as anticipated by us, values on this .side have shown a lower tendency, corresponding with those prices. Those lots sold at Tuesday's auction realised up to full market rates of the day, and in a number of instances exceeded our valuations. There was a large attendance of buyers, but, owing to a dispute between brokers and buyers, those from overseas refrained-, from bidding. Notwithstanding this, the wool was taken by .New Zealand buyers at prices, as before stated, well up to the market prices of the day. The following table will give an indication of prices ruling as compared with November, 1909, and 1910: —Greasv halfbred. Nov. 1909,12 dto 13£ d; Nov. 1910, lOd to 10* d; Nov. 1911, none offering.
