ANNUAL SOCIAL.
The annual social of (the Women's Christian Teniip.ara.nce "Union, held on Tuesday ailtarnoon, in Knox Hall, was one of the imost successful evenheld in- Mast/arton. The President (Mrs L v Devonpprt) occupied the chair.
Among those present were Re vis. Sen-pel, Hlodge, Swinerd, and Ensign. AveneM. Apologies for absence were received firom Revs. W'atson ■and Thompson. . The reports- of Mrs D'Ews (isecme'tary), Mrs J. Millar (treasurer), and .Mrs Anderson (superintendent of H|om>e meetings), were read and, adopted.
The President, in her remarks, referred, to the substantial!' progress made by the Union during til© year. Tlhat the Union is making rapid strides was sliowai by the fact that e<leven new imiemibeu's were initiated during- the meeting. Blev. A. Hlodge congratulated the Union upon their splendid iniarewse in. mieroitoersfliiip, upon the good work ttlhey are doing, and especially upon itfliedx able President. •
The Hollowing contributed to a pleasing pirogramime: Pianoforte solo, Mlrs W. Joy; recitation, Mrs B. lveson ; "song, JMins A. Daniell-; speech, Rev. S. J. Serpell; song, Plaster Swinerd; speech,-, Rw. A. Hodge; song, Mais A. Donald; speech Pasta- Swiinerd; speech, Ensign Avenell.
iMirs Wunlcop, ot Greytowin, was present at the meeting, and spoke of the progress of the wiork in Greytowin.
Mils D'Ewa projxosed, and Mrs J. Miller seconded, a hearty vote of thanks to aMI vfliw had taken part in the programme.
