HAIWERA, Last Night,

"Hie Egmont A. and: P. Association's .spring show opened yesterday, in fine but windy weather. The- entries totaled' 17~33, as against 1867 lin 1910. Rough weather and shortagje of grass, it is said, has- interfered with getting stock into eonddtiion for show : purpose s. Heaiee thie decrease. Cattle, sheep and liorses, with. the exception of light horses,, were of good quality. In the cattle sections, the Jersey olasjses were weill filled, and competition was keen. Atfirshires and Holstein-Friesriians were, also well represented. Mr G. P. Moore was the principal exhibitor ofßerefbrds, and practically swept t(h>e» board in t-lfis c ila-ss, also in fat cattle. Thie Shorthorn® were of good quality, and the comipetition fair. Mr W. H. \Vybourne wis the pnineipaii prizetak&r in Lincoln siheep, and. S. R. Lancaster in Ehgfislh' Le-i----oesters.' BJomineys are only of fair quality, but the competition is close. Fat sheep are sitrong classes, and fat lambs exceptionally , good. The draught lib. see were a good' lot, and vompetition \\\as strong, but the quality of the younger thoroughbreds and light- horses were rather poor. ■ The champioriiship& were as follow : Shorthorns, G. A. Turner (Elthiam), bull and cow and reserve champion for bull; Hblsitein-Firiesiian bull, Newton King (New Pflrymoaiitli) ; I; Lovelock (Palmersiton North); Ayrshire bull, F. Milk; reserve bull, Brown- Bros.; cow, P. MJlls, and reserve ohia-mpion; Jersey bull, G-. Hla-rkaieas; reserve bull, A. and J. O'Donnell; cow, A. A. Ward; reservo cow, S. R.. Lancaster; Hereford bull, G. F. Moore, and reserve bull; Lincoln ram and ewe, W. H. Wyfboiirne ; English Leicester ram and ewe, S.. R. Lancasiter; Romroey, J. D. Hughes; ewe, H. P. Best; Shropshire Down ewe, T Ash.; SoutKdowai ram and ewe, Ellis Bros.; Black Devon sow, Mlrs Weekes (Awfapxifni); draaipflilt mare, A. Hasfrie; reserve mare, F. S. Oiigfcton.
