LEVIN AND CO.'S REPORT
Messrs Levin and Co., Ltd., report: At the first sale of the season in. Wellington yesterday afternoon, 1050 bales were offered by the Associated Brokers, our catalogue comprising 250 bales. The wool opened up somewhat in similar condition to last year, but was heavier an/1 not too well grown. There was a good attendance of buyers from all parts of the world, tho United Kingdom, Europe, United States, and New Zealand being well represented. The oversea buyers, however, withdrew, owing to their objection to the enforcement of the brokers' terms, i.e., cash before delivery. The sale was well-supportod, nevertheless, by local operators, and non-members of the Buyers' Association, who bought freely at prices which were fairly equivalent to Lonlon values to-day. and the sale, did, not appear to suffer from any lack of competition-. As was to be expected. owing to the low range now current in London, and the uncertain outlook, prices showed a fall of 2}d to ljjd per lb, as compared with last November s-ale. The range of prices was as follows: —Merinos, November, 1910, none offering; November, 1911, rone offering. Crossbred, 10£ dto ll^d —9d to 9sd ; superfine crossbred, none offering—none offering; fine crossbred, lOd to 10£d —7Jd to BJd; medium crossbred, 9d to 9Jd —7d to 7 j Jd; coarse cros-bred', 8d to Bjd—6sd to 7id; inferior crossbred, 7d to 8d — 6d to GJd: bellies and pieces, 4d to 7d —4d to sd; locks, 4d to 5£d —2d to 31d. We sold Wairarapa wools »s under:—WP/M, 7£d; H.J.C., 7*d; TE RANGITUMAU, Bd, 7}d, 7*d; M.D., 7£d; BANK PLACE, MM over WAIPUNA, 7'jd ; LANDSEND, 7£d. The next Wellington sale will be held on . the 4th December, 1911. Catalogues close on the 28th inst.

Tha first wool sale tbok place to-day when the combined catalogues amounted to about one thousand bales. Buyers were in full force, but in consequence of their declining to accept the condition of sale re payment before delivery, the oversea buyers withdrew. Tliere was, however, good outside support, and tlie whole of the catalogues were submitted. Many lots were pavsed, but those submitted were on a parity of current London prices, which are from Id to 1-Jd below last March local sales.
