METHODIST SUNDAY SCHOOL
ANNUAL PUBLIC MEETING. The annual public meeting in connection with the fifty-fifth anniversary of the Mastertonr Methodist Sunday School was held test night. Mr 0. E. Daniell (Superintendent) presided over a large attendance of children «nd their parents and friends. The anniversary hymns were repeated by the children, and thoroughly enjoyed by those present. Interesting addresses were given by the Chairman and tlie Rev. S. J. Serpell. Mr R. J. Mclver, Secretary, read the annual report, which disclosed a very satisfactory state of affairs. The balance-sheet showed a debit balance of £1 7s. During the evening recitations were rendered by Misses Beryl Payne, Rita Falloon, Gertie Morris, Margaret Donald, Dora Kyle, Florrie Pickering, Bessie Morris, Constance ; Donald, Jessie \Miller,. Chrissie McMaster, Sarah Candy, Rita Jackson and Irene Jackson, and Masters Arthur Clough, Xvan Sutherland, Leslie Falloon, W. Douglas, Rubin McMaster > Clarie Mc-. Tver, John McMaster, and Syd Evernden, . The prizes won by scholars at the recent Scripture examinations under the auspices of the Wellington Sunday School Union were presented as follows: —First prize: Ethel M. Madeley, 81 marks (possible 100); Elsie M. King, 78; Dorothy M. Perrin, 75. Second prize:—Ida E. Anderson, 66; Dora E. Kyle, 66. Third Prize: Margaret Donald, 58; Willie Douglas 49; Baden Williams, 46; Clarence Tyacko 40. The collections during Sunday and at last night's meeting amounted to a very satisfactory sum. Votes of thanks were passed to all those who assisted in making the an-niversary-a success. •
