MASTERTON RACING CLUB

MEETING OF STEWARDS

The monthly meeting of the Stewards of the Masterton Racing Club was held on Saturday afternoon last, there being present: Messrs 0. F. Vallance (Chairman), J. lorns, A. Reside, O. H. Bennett, W. Cooper, J. Maoara, D. McLachlan, C. A. Pownall, C. H. Yates, R. Buick, A. J. Welch, F. E. Dorsett, O. C. Cooper and J. B. Moodie. A letter was received from the Wellington Racing Club, stating that a trainer's license had been granted to Thomas Higgins. The Woodville Racing Club wrote, stating that they would be in rather an unfortunate position in their dates, owing to the general election falling December 7th. The Club also forwarded information in regard to the totalisator. —A sub-committee consisting of Messrs J. Macara, 0. C. Copper land J. lorns was appointed to deal with tho question of the totalisator.

An offer from the Christchurch Presi Company in regard to advertising the programme w;as accepted. Mr C. C. Ramsden wrote, offering tho Club the right to .purchase tho fancing on the graund leased by Mr A. H. Wrightson from the Club. —It was decided to inform Mr R-amsden. that the club is prepared to accept the fence as la set-off against an ugnrassed paddock. Mr Pollock wrote accepting the position of haudicapper to the Club. Mr H.yA. McKenzie, of Wellington, offered to provide a totalisator for the meeting at 1$ per cent. —The matter was referred to the sub-committee already appointed. The resignation of Mr E. P. Cameron, who has left the district, as a member of the Club, was accepted. Mersra R. Dagg ;and Noble-Campbell were, elected as new members. Ari offer of P. O'Connor of £2 for the old iron on tho course was referred to the Building Committee, with power to act. The Secretary reported that he had received the totalisator permit for the forthcoming meeting. A credit balianco of £B6O 14s 5d was reported by the Treasurer. A sub-committee consisting ii Messrs Moodie, 0. C. Cooper and Bennet was appointed to arrange for the catering for the forthcoming meeting.
