DISASTROUS RACE FROM
CHRISTCHURCH.
The Mastarton Homing Pigeon •Club flew, a race from. C'hristchiurch last Saturday, -when, 11 lofts iseait 56 pigeons. The birds wtere liberated •at 8 a.m. in. duil weatlier, and enoountOTcd wkirse iwccit'hor further north, with the result that none of them .reached bom© ou tflio day of liberation, and only the winning bird (Mr F. Rosiaon's "Silver Dapple") was clocked in up till late last night, the actual flying time (after deducting th& night allowance) being 25 hours 16 .minutes. The time alJowaace for this race expires 24 hours after the first birdi clocks in, and in all probability there will, be a number; of others home before; the
