BORROWED MONEY.
The answer ci ,biovernment apologists to the protests of the Opposition against -tlhte extravagant borrowing operations of the present administration is as grotesque as it is unconvincing. They do not argue that the money is required. All ithey say is that t-lite Opposition voted for the loans, and consequently they must be. justified'. Tlhe Opposition. voted for tfhe loan® simply to prevent the Gto'veiraimeint from laying thi» charge, at its dbor that it has endeavoured to precipitate a--financial crisds. What the Opposition says, and says pfiiainly, is* that the ]mge loans wouW not be inquired if the revenues were expended) in an eoo-nowi&e-aT and! .liu.sine&S'-Aike ma.nnei. The. moneys are being frittered away in uiseles® undlerfcafeings, and in purclilasing political support, and it i® against this extravagance that tlie Dominion is rising in protest.
