Nominations closed at uoau yea'ccrday i'or the various seacs on the ilasibertan County Council. For the Te Whiti Riding (previously represented by Mr John Morris) not a single nomination was received—an experience unprecedented, in the history of the Council. Mr James Miller Mas re-elected unopposed for the Upper Taueru Riding, and Messrs R. F. Beetham and H. 0. Toogood for the Wainuioru Riding. Tlie nominations for the remaining Ridiaigs. were as follow : Opaki Riding (two- members). — Messrs D. W. Foreman, W. Harris and W. J. Welch.
ißnngitumau Riding (one member) —Messrs John Blatchford and D. J. Cameron.
•Alfred-ton Riding (two members). —Messrs, C. E. Cross, Cecil Kebbeli, Alex. Murray and A. J. Patchett.
The election of representatives of the contested Ridings will be held on Wednesday next.
