KNOCKED DOWN IN THE STREET*

Last Night At, about 20.31) o'ciock onTuesda/ evening, •« man named George Giuither -was taken to the Hospital," suffering from the effects of an injury Supposed to have been, caused, by being knocked down by another mam near the corner of Willis and Man- ' ners Streets.
When admitted to the Hospital, GuntbJer. was unconscious, and he remained in that condition until o'clock- this afternoon, when hj» died. '
Gunther/belonged to Master-too, but recently > had been working at Pongaroa. Deceased's mother, who at present is very ill,, and a brother, reside at Masterton.
.The police.;arte making {inquiries fori the man, wno is .supposed to havebeen, responsible for the mishap to Gunther. '-.
An inquest willbe held to-morrow
(The deceased man- was > about 40* years of';age, and was a native of Masterton, mother and familv have. resided for many; years. An elder brother, Mr• John Guhther, foreinirly re?jided at Pongaroa, but is now a land agent in Poverty" Bay.)
