In the Assembly, during the debate on the Totalisator Bill, Mr Wade said lie failed to see how the machine would lessen betting on racecourses. Such a result had not been obtained m New Zealand. It gave better odds, made gambling more attractive, an increased the evil. The Bill was referred to a Select Committee.
