NEW ZEALAND FORECAST.

WELLINGTON, Last Night.
The Rev. D. C. Bates, of the Meteorological Office this evening issued the following summary and forecast:— Rain has fallen on the West Coast and southernmost districts of the South Island, and westerly gale pre-: vailed in Foveaux Strait during Monday night. Squally and divergent winds were reported this morning in various parts, but moderate to .strong westerlies have prevailed, with, fair and warm weather. The barometer rose during the niglit in the South Island. Present indications are for increasing haze and cloudiness generally, ,but especially in tEe northern and southernmost districts. Moderate to .strong westerly winds will probably give way to increasing northerlies and a falling barometer everywhere, after about sixteen hours'.
