PEOPLE WHO GET DRUNK. An Inctoaqa Last Over , 10,000 Arrests. (No-License Advertisement.) I'he number of persons prosecuted for 'drunkenness during the past financial year was 11,718, an increase of 1061 on the number charged with the offence during the previous l year. Of the number, 37.81 of the males and 65.98 per cent of the females ha<J previous convictions recorded against them, and 5.44 per cent, of the males were not permanent resi- . den.ts. of the Dominion. The total number of first offenders wais 7056. «.• The total irumbetr of persons arrested for drunkenness in> the four centres and their suburbs were 5488 .'males and 606 females,' an .increase .on the previous year of 917 male® and 111 female®. Of those numbers all .but four persons were convicted. The greatest numerical increase was recorded in Auckland, where the number of arrests was 829 in excess 'of those in the previous year. 3m Wellington the increase was 220, and in Ohri'stchureh only 17, while in Dunedin there was a decrease of 38.—Adrt.
