J. C. WILLIAMSON'S ENGLISH DRAIMATIC CO.

"THE WOMAN liN THE CASE."

The Sydney Morning Herald, writing on "The Woman in tlie Case," which is to be produced at the Town Hall to-morrow might- by J. C. Williamson's new (English Dramatic Co., says :— Nothing so thrilling as the third act of "The Woman in the ■Case" has been seen here for « long time. In this, Mabel Trevor and •Elinor Foster are at their best. Here are two women, contrasts in every way, one watching the other like a cat watches a mouse, waiting and w.atching to catch her off liev .guard and wrest from Jier the secret that lias thrown her husband into the Tombs prison and hung ' over him the shadow, of doom. When Claire Forster makes the confession and Margaret ißolfe seizes' her by the < throat while she calls for the hidden witnesses who have taken down every word, the pent up feel/ings of the audience, restrained with difficulty throughout this strenuous .scene, find relief in aii outburst of real enthusiasm and applause. It is a finely acted scene, and in it Miss Mabel Trevor gives a display of marvellous emotional acting the like of which lias not been seen here for a long time. The box plan is. at Miss Rive's, and is filling rapidly.^

THOMPSON-PAYNE PICTURES.

Tlie current programme at the Foresters' Hall, is an excellent one, and as a result .another large audience was present last evening at tlie entertainment. The dramas call for .special mention,, and were of such .a''varied nature- a. c - to please all. The pick of the subjects \ were "A Dead Man's, Honour," "Little Souls," and "Slim Jim's' Last Chance." The comedy and comic pictures created iroa.rs of laughter, while the scenios were also splendid subjects. This first-class programmewill be repeated for the last time to-night.
