"TRADE" ADVERTISEMENTS.
The Government forbids any person or persons to place advertising matter on the telegraph poles in 'New Zealand. The same Government grants, permission for the railway stations to he daubed with 'biliouslooking advertisements about everything mundane. It has now permitted the stations to lie utilised for the exhibition of lurid posters, warning the travelling public against the evils of No-license, and advising them how to vote at the coming polls. This is siirely carrying the business too far. The Government lias no right to allow public buildings to be used for the purpose of exhibiting placards which, to a large section, of the community, are of a highly objectionable character.
