MOUNT LYELL MINE MANAGER'S STATEMENT.

MELBOURNE, Oct. 30.
The general manager of the Mount lyell lOompany has stated that the published terms of the agreement are wrong. The directors only agreed to meet the men in conference .after they had resumed work. It was understood by both sides that Norman White, the dismissed union official, was not to be reinstate ed whale his case was being tested in -the courts, but this was not to prejudice the conference. No intimation has yet reached the company that the strike has been declared off.
