SYDNEY, October 26

/Mr MacDonnell's death is deeply regretted. It is a great blow to the Labour movement.

The Assembly met and adjourned in respect of the late gentleman. Members of both, sides of the House expressed deep regret. Mr MacDonnell is generally considered the most popular arid one of the most able members. Besides being Chief Secretary be is General Secretary of the Australian Workers' Union, the biggest Union in the Commonwealth.

The Federal Caucus, which was sitting when informed of Mr MacPonn ell's death, immediately adjourned.
