CATILFIEiLID, Oct. 21. lAi'ter a cold and wintry week, Cup Day was favoured with bright sunshine and a typical spring day. A record attendance was promised at the opening of the day, and this was maintained, for it was certainly the biggest Caulfield Gup crowd remembered. The gubernatorial party included Lord and Lady Den man and Governor Fuller, both with large parties. The Cup win -was very .popular. Lady Medallist was always in a good pla>:e, and finished well. Results : Oiby Handicap.— Bullawarra 12.1, 1 : Jues 11.7. 2; Biibibenluke 10.6, .'J. The winner led all the way, and won. by three-qusirters of a length. Gwynne Handicap—Good Brew 8.4, 1; Cider 7.11, 2; JViindai 7.13 3. Ten other starters. Gold Brew led after getting into his stride, and finished two lengths ahead. Time, 55sec. CAULFIELD CUP. Lady Medallist (Barnett) 1 Flavian (Lambert 2 Aurofodina (Smith) 3 All ran. Sandbat-h was the first to break the line from Radiator, Flavian, Hartifell, Didus and Beggar. After a furlong had been traversed, Thva Briggs took charge, and led past the box from Didus. Beverage, Beggar, Hartfell, Lady Medallist and Indiscreet. Radiator nearly fell, and Aurofodina was nearly the last out of the straight. Twa. Briggs led from Didus, ißeverage, Indiscreet and Beggar. Indiscreet ran: into second place at the mile post from Twa Briggs, Beverage, Flavian, and 'Hartfell. . Flavian, Lady Medallist, and Indiscreet then took charge from Twa. B'riggs, Beverage, Didus, Radiator, Flavian and Lady Medallist. Indiscreet made a hot run along the railway side, with Beverage close up. Then came Lady Medallist, Didus, Aurofodina, and Flavian. Hartfelj was interfered with. Lady Medallist led roundi the turn from Aurofodina, Sandbath making a good run at the outside, with Flavian handy. Lady Medallist led into the straight front Flavian andi Aurofodina, and finished in that ordeir, winning by six lengths,;' three lengths 'between second and third. Time 2min. 34-Jscc., equalling last year's record.
Steeplechase.— Timburello 9.0, 1; Southerly 9.11, 2; Vanguard 11.7, 3. Seven others started. Don Q., Cornstalk andi King's Country were leading till they came to grief. King's Country fell at the first treble, and broke his neck. Timburello led over the last fence from. Altar Boy and Vanguard. Southerly parsed ' Vanguard on the run home. Won by four lengths.
