The friends of Mr Joseph Reardon, mil 1-ejgret to hear that another 'af- ■ faction has befallen his family. It was only a few weeks ago that one of his_daughters died from the dreaddisease of tuberculosis, and now his. eon Joseph, twenty-six years of age, has succumbed to the same complaint. The decea-sed young man was wellknown in Masterton, and was highly.esteemed. He .had been ailing for only., a few weeks, and his end came swiftly:. 1 on Saturday last. Mr Reardon and. his family will have the sympathy of a wide circle,of friends in theiu sad; bereavement. The funeral will leavethe residence at .half-past two this-: afternoon for St* Patrick's Church, and thence to the cemetery.
A Palmerston North telegram states that Mr R. C. Bruce, of Ngaruni, Hunterville, who rwas operated on last week, is progressing favourably, and it is expected that a further operation, which will take place this week, wilT effect a complete cure. J
Mr Alfred Matthews, of Featherston, will act as judge of Romney ewes at the Mana watu show. . '
A Feilding telegram states that at a banquet at Kimbolton, Mr F F. Hockly, retiring chairman of the Kiwi tea County Council, received a. presentation from the Councillors. Mn Hockly has retired to contest the Waimarino electorate in the Opposition interest.
