The unanimity which prevailed at the conference in Masterton on Saturday last upon the urgent necessity for the extension of the rural instruction in New Zealand should impress the [representatives of the people with the fact tnat the primary industry of the Dominion is not receiving that attention whach its importance de-~ serves>. It is surely a reproach upon our Legislature that in the matter of rural education we should be so far behind other countries. The deputation which' is to wait upon the Minister should have no difficulty in convincing him that this matter is of vital concern to the future of the Dominion, and in demonstrating the special adaptability of tho Wairarapa for the inauguration of a scheme of agricultural high schools. The movement is one which must appeal to the rural population in all parts of New Zealand, and as it is justified by strong precedents, it will be almost irresistible.
