Bates, of the Meteorological Office this evening issued the following sumtaary and forecast:— The, barometer rose steadily in the North during the night, and as the storm passed rapidly eastward, the wcatlier improved everywhere. Today strong southerly winds, backing westward, Have prevailed, but > a ■westerly gale lias oontmued-in Fovea,iix Strait. : :
Present indications aire : . for strong westerly Winds generally, but backing to northerly,;... and increasing southward of New Plymouth vand Na<pier, for a westerly, low pressure due to pass in the South on ' Monday night or Tuesday morning. Fair weather probable on the East Coast, but increasing cloudiness and more unsettled weather on the West Coast and southernmost district®. The holiday prospects, so far as the general weather conditions are concerned, are at present rather unfavourable.
