ORGAN RECITAL
BY MR PURCELL WEBB. Considering the inclemency of the weather, .there was a ,good attendance at Knox Church, Mas-terton, last evening, to hear .the organ recital gi vem by Mr EurcelL' Webb, The' organist gave ■some choice selections, several of them being played for the "finsit time in ' Mastei-ton. Lemare's "Andantino" proved one of the favourite pieces, and the audience demanded a repetition. . A "Cradle Song," by Ward proved another popular item. Orieson's splendid "Marche Triumphale" wasia. fine organ solo, as also was the popular overture to ".Zamjpa." The "Andante" s lOm Handel's 4th Concerto, gave the organist an opportunity to display tlv* flute (Stops of the organ. Mr Webb gave fine renderings of fhis solos, and the pieces, without exception, were rendered with .fin© taste and vim, and were much appreciated. Mi- Chas. Ibbetson sang with feeling two .solos, "Faith," iby Glover, and "Nearer,''.My God,Tito Thee," ' byCarey. Both received much,, applause. Recitals such as was given last night do much to educate people in matters musical, .besides providing a pleasant evening's entertainment.
