BOARD'S ANNUAL REPORT

SATISFACTORY YEAR'S WORKING.

MELBOURNE, October 17

The report of the Pacific Cable Board for the year ended March 31st shows that a credit balance of £39,334 was available to help meet the annuity of £77,544 provided by the Imperial and Dominion Governments. The receipts totalled £138,677, of which £136,142 was the net traffic revenue. The Board has a credit balance of £11,378 above that of the previous year. Of the balance, £20,255 is represented by new business, which is counter-balanced by £15,576 for new expenditure. . The estimated receipts for the current year is £141,000, and working expenses £110,975.

The renewal fund now stands at £264,236. In addition to reserves, the Company has £15,945 worth of cables and stores in hand.

The international traffic over the cable in its first year totalled 864,969 words, including 37.819 words for the Press.

Last year's total was 1,849, 613, including 467,495 words for the Press.
