CSYMNEY, October 16; The proposal that a mail subsidy, be paid to the Union Steam "Ship Company, made since,, its contract closed with the Niwv Zeatanil:. l^ ernmeiut, has been revived, with a view of arranging an improved Australian service. The new proposal is that the Commonwealth should pay the company between £20,000 and £30,000 per year, with £IO,OOO additional for the steamer® to call alternately at Brisbane and Melbourne. In return the company is prepared tr provide an improved and more expeditious service.
