THE CAPITAL SITE.
Mr vCokman Phillips, who is nothing if not intensely humorous, presented a petition to Parliament yesterday, praying that the site of'the Capital of New Zealand .bo-.removed from Wellington to a fcito between Featherston and Carterton. Mr Phillips has done; a good many things for New Zealand in the course of his career. He introduced the first fiols'fceins! He established the first dairy factory! B& claims, to have discovered a serum, or something, which would extinguish the -rabbit pest, if •the-irabbitsi could, only be caughtaud inoculated! And now he proposes placing the Houses of Parliament in proximity to the Buchanan "Home fo.- Incurables"! Seriously speaking, however, he its oh, the, right track in this matter, as he is in many others. The Wairarapa would furnish' cm admirable site ,for the Capital—-puen the Rimutaka railway is deviated.
