MASTERTON COUNTY COUNCIL.
MONTHLY MEETINC. Th© monthly mooting of the iMasterton County Council was held yes terday afternoon, there being present—Crs Welch (chairman), C. C. Keblbell, A. 'Murray, J. D. Cameron', and D. ;W. Foreman. Leave of absence was granted to Crs Beetham, MOrris and Miller. IMr C. F. Vallance wrote, asking permission to lay a water pipe under the road fronting his house, and al«o across the Kahumingi bridge.— On the motion of Or Cameron, seconded ■by Cr Murray, the matter was referred to the Engineer. letter was received from Mr 'R. D. McKenzie, asking the Council to allow him to connect his private road with the main road at Kopuaranga. —On the motion of Cr Foreman, seconded by (Cr Cameron, the expenditure of a sum of £lO .was authorised Messrs Culloty and Fouhy wrote, asking the Council to take over the finished portion of their contract for the approaches to the Waipoua bridges.— Received. a letter was received from the Belmont Quarry Company, quoting prioe9 for the supply of metal.—r-On the motion of 'Or /Murray, it was decided to thanik the Company for its offer, and to enquire as to cost of freight, ete. The Public "Works Department forwarded an Order-in-Council, declaring 47 chains or Waikaraka Road to ?>.* a county road. , FINANCE COMMITTEE. . J report of the meeting of the j Finance Committee was read. There were present at this meeting,— Crs. C. iKeibbeli (Chairman), D. W. Foreman, 'W. J. Welch, D. J. Cameron, I and A. Murray. ' The Treasurer reported 1 'as follows : General Fund account, dr., £1213 9s 2d; Local Bodies Loan® account, | cr., £986 15s; Accounts debit balance £232 13s- 9d; • -Receipt® since 1 (September 12th, £2251 8s 4d. Aocounts amounting to £964 Sis were recommended for payment. ' Oipaki Water Supply Loan.— The Clerk wa& directed to place the sum (£493 13s sd) lying to the credit of the Opaki Water Supply Loan Account on fixed deposit for twelve 'months with the 'Bank of New Zea.lanci. . ~' Jt was decided, on the motion of; * .0,1 Murray,u on/ :i licitor il>e.'obtained as, to' r "uncler the oircumstariteß detailed in -' )iis letter, . considered to have a claim, at'law in re--ispect of the accident which occurred to him on September 7th last. An opinion jby Mr W. G., Beard, relating to a proposal to widen the bridge on the Borough boundary at the north approach to Ma«terton wai read, and ail informal discussion thereon-took place, but no definite action iwas decided upon, pending a reply being received from the Public Works -Department as to whether or not a Governor's Warrant authorising the work can be issued.
