MEETING <JF STEWARDS.
• The ordinary monthly meeting of Stewards of the Masterton Racing Club was held on Saturday last, there being present: Messrs T). McLachlan (in the, chair),..W. Jf. Sports Protection League was made up on the basis of 1£ per cent, on the stakes given during the previous sea- ] son. —Several members expressed the .opinion that the contribution was ] rather large. Further consideration of the matter was deferred until next meeting. The Wellington Racing Club for-warded.-trainers.' licenses for J. Phillips, W. Hawthorne, H. C. McPhee, and R. Knox, and a jockey's license for N. H. Campbell. The President and Mr J. B. Moodie were authorised to affix the seal of the Club to a mortgage to Mr W. A. Liverton for a sum of £3OOO.
An application from Thomas<Dwyer for a trainer's license was referred to the special committee set up to deal with licenses.
Mr G. Cooker, who has left for Wanganui, wrote, tendering his resignation, which was accepted. The report of the custodian for, the month was received. The.treasurer reported a credit balance at date of 16830 9s sd;
Messrs Vallance, Dorset, Macara, McLachlan, W. Cooper , and Whittaker were appointed a programme committee, withjull power to act.
