SOUTH WAIRARAPA.

Mr L. T. Cobcroft presided at th© annual meeting of th e South Wairarapa Cricket CTub at Feath'en&fcon, when the annual, report and balance sheet was read and adopted. Officers were elected as follow: Par tron, Mr \V. C. Buchanan, M.P.; President, Mr A.. Matthews; Vicepresidents, Messrs H. A. Matthews', C. Matthews, B. Spsedy, J. C. BidMill, A. H. Knowles, A. Hannay, J. 0. Bidwili, N. Matthews, W. E. BidwilJ, W. Barton, J. Crawford, J. H. Tully and G. Fenwick; Captain, Mr L. T. Cbbcroft; Vice-captain, Mr W. G. Miller; selection committee, j Messrs L. T. Cbbcroft, L. Hawke, j and W. G. Miller; general committee, Messrs L. Hawke, J. Speedy, and E. Silverwood; delegates to Association, Messrs L. Hawke and W." G. Miller; secretary and treasurer, Mr W. G. Miller. The annual subscription was' fixed at 15s. The season is to open on October 14th. Tennew members were elected, and votes of thanks accorded the officers of last year. A number of new books have lately been added to the shelves of the Carterton Public Library. A two days' bazaar in aid of the fluids of St. Andrew's. Presbyterian Oiiurch was opened in the Hall, Carterton, yesterday ' afternoon. There was a good attendance and the .stall holders availed themselves of the opportunity to do good business.

The South Wai'rarapa Bowling Clubs have been, invited to be present at the opening of the season by the Masterton Bowling Club. On Friday evening next the Featberston Debating .Society will close its session with a mock parliament election.

Mr M. Lust, who' has been, in business* a,s h a tailor and mercer in.' Featherston for some three years past, left' on'.Tuesday to take over v a business at Bavelock, in. the South Island.

Mr C. Lust, who left Featherstoa on Tuesday with his father for Havelock, was on the previous; evening presented with a handsome travelling bag by the members, of the Fire Brigade, as a token of esteem and appreciation of his sea-vices as secretary. The Feathevston Horticultural Society have decided to hold their spring show on November 23rd. The Society liais a credit balance of £2l 18s 5d ,and a strong executive "o.'nmittee has been, appointed to arrange the show. The Greytown Volunteer Fire Brigade held a successful wet practice an Monday, night. Mr C. J.
