CRICKET.
ST. MATTHEW'S CLUB.
The annual general meeting of the St. Matthew's Cricket Club was held in the Schoolroom last evening, the Rev. H. Wa:tson being in the chair. The secretary read a report on the year's working of the dub, in which regret was expressed that the Rev. W. Raine and Mr A. J. Berry had left the district, both being a .severe loss to the Quib. The two junior teams had gained second and third places in the Junior Competition. It was resolved to enter a junior team for this season's competition, and to open the season, with a full practice on Saturday afternoon next. In the absence of the treasurer, the secretary presented 'a rough balaaicesheet, 'which showed a very satisfactory state of .afFairs with the exception of fifteen outstanding subscriptions. The secretary stated that this was to be regretted, and seemed somewhat unsportsmanlike, seeing that these players got their amusement and in some .instances joined other Clubs. This should, he said, in no way he tolerated by the Association . The meeting was adjourned until Monday evening next, when the election of officers will take place.
