FEDERAL ARBITRATION.

(Received October 3, 10.15 a.m.) MELBOURNE, October 3. The Federal Arbitration Court has commenced the hearing of the seamen's claims against ithe Steamship Owners' Association. The seamen demand the following rates of wages: —Boatswains £9 per month, A.B. £B, lamp trimmers £9, ordinary seamen £6, dbnkeymen £ll, greasers £lO, and runners £B. Four hours on duty and eight off when at sea are also claimed. The Amalgamated Mine Employees' Association has lodged a claim with the Federal Registrar for a compulsory conference in connection with the Lyell dispute.
