MR HOGG'S POSITION.

In a, letter to a friend in Mastertom,, a copy of (which is published in another column, Mr A. W. Hogg, M.P., makes his. position clear so (far as his candidature for the coming election is concerned. He states plainly that he has 'lost confidence in the Government, land that he intends offering himself as' 'an Independent Latbour candidate. Presumably he and IMt iFowlds, and possibly one or two others of the "advanced" Liberals., or Radicals', will cut theim'selves adrift from the Government and endeavour to form a third party. At the present juncture there does not appear to he much hope for such a party at the polls, though, 'if the two .major parties are equally divided, the tail .might 'be made' to wag the dog. .
