At the meeting of the Mastertoir Chamber of Comnrierce yesterday, Mr Donald Donald proposed, "That this Chamber approve, of the Taupo Company's scheme for opening up the Lake Taupo district by rail, provid- ' iug the concessions an land are reas-> onable, and provision is made, for subdivision and sale." « Mr Donald istated that lie conld hotsee any reason why private industry ehoiald not undertake this work. It would give a great impetus to settlement. Mr W. E. Chamberlain seconded the motion. Mr R. (Brown asked if it was proposed that the- Government should have power to acquire the land. Mr Donald said it wais part of the agreement that they should acquire it at any tame. The motion was put aaid icamed on the* voices.
