LONDON WOOL SALES

The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency, Go., Ltd., have received the following cablegram from their London house: —There was a good attendance at the opening of the, fifth series of sales to-day, competition by Home and continental buyers .being irregular, and prices as compared with the dose of preceding series ruled in buyers' favour. As compared with last sales closing rates prices are lowkt by about par to 5 per cent, for merino; about 5 per cent for fine and coarse crossbred; and sto 7J per cent. | for medium crossbred. Messrs Dalgety and Co., Ltd., Wellington, have received cabled advice -dated 25th inst., from their London office, reading as follows: —The wool sales have opened. The attendance of i buyers is large and competition is animated, but the selection of wools is indifferent. Merino wools: Good quality and condition par to 5 per cent., also inferior and faulty, 5 to 10 per cent lower as compared with the closing rates of last series. Faulty short scoured wools, 10' per cent lower, and are 'neglected. Crossbreds* are 5 per cent Jower. Messrs Levin and C 0. ,; Ltd., have re- ) ceived the following cablegram from their London agents, dated September, 26th, 1911 -.—Sales have opened. Medium crossbreds show a fall of 7£ per cent; other qualities 5 per cent, lower, as compared with the closing rates of last sales.

Bulk Report on "WFM over TARATAHI," 434 bale-, wool, offered July 19th, 1911.—These wools were in excellent condition, and on this occasion we had no fault whatever to find with either the get up or classing. The brand,.,which is favourably commented upon by ibuyers, 'has already established itself, and we are pJeased to say .that competition for ajU the lots were extremely keen. Owing to the slight irregularity of the market, due -principally to the rather heavy supply of this class of -wool, we found it necessary to. buy in a-few lots (39 bales in all), and we are hopeful that some advance on the bids will be obtainable later orf.
