There,.is something wrong with the 'Bankruptcy^Act when a person owing £43 can .spend. £6 in filing fees. In these days, Magistrates do notmake orders for imprisonment unless it can ibe shown that the debtor is in a position to pay isomething off the' amount owing. That being the case, there should be no possibility of filing unless the .amount involved is at least £IOO, and it can be shown that the placing of the affairs of a. 'bankrupt in the liands. of an Official Assignee is .necessary for the •protection of the interest* of the creditors' as well as those of the debtor. Before a debtor am jpermibted to file, his position should be reviewed -by & 'Magistrate or other Court of competent The matter is. one which Channbeirs of Commerce might with advantage . discuss. i ■ ■ ■ ■ .
