A .outer was received at ic=ti night's meeting of .the Mastertoa Borough Council from thfe Cflerk of the County Council, .asking for iJio Borough Council & snare (£383 10» 9d of tfoa progress payment in oonl nection with the contract for tiho bridges at the- northern approach. The Town. Clerk was authorised to > forward the amount. As requested by tihe Council, i2» County Engineer forwarded Bis amended estimate for thie road formations. The estimate was £905 7s 6d, while the original amount was £926 Is6d. After some discussion the ' letter was received, no action being taken. O PragneU .then moved tlhat -fiho •work of forming the approach to the bridge from Queen Street be left id the hands of .the County Engineer. He considered that the man wiho started the work should finish it. Cr O'Lea-ry seconded' the motion. The Mayor and Cr Elliott were of the opinion that the Borough Council should undertake the road formation this bide of the bridge. The motion on being put was negatived, and the Borough Engineer waj instructed to proceed with the work.
