SIR JOSEPH WARD.
• {To The Editor.l Sir, — In a footnote to my letter, you -attempted, in an allegedly 'humorous sort of way, tto .make it appear that a. man's religion dad not count in politics. 1 did not say that it did. I merely asked a question for my own information. Even you, however, make a proviso, wflien you say it does not matter eo long ais i<he administration is "clean." Is- tlie •administration "clean ?" Does not religion enter largely into it ? I leave you to answer, as you seem to know something about these tidings.— I am, etc., PROTESTANT. (We simply don't know. We haive heard certa'n tilings; hut hc.-.rrrv evidence does not count. If our correspondent can -make specific charges, our columns are open to 1 him. We are not, howiever, going to permit a religious, controversy in this paper.—Ed. Age.)
