AUTO-CYCLE UNION.
FORMED FOR NORTH ISLAND
A considerable step towards the Auto-cycle Union of New Zealand, proposed last March, as a federation of the motor-cycle clubs of the Dominion, was taken at Palmerston North on Saturday evening. Delegates were present at a conference of North, Island clubs, and after discussion it was decided to form an Auto-cycle Union of the North Island, *he majority pre-, sent being opposed to a Dominion Union, suggested by the representatives ox the New Zealand Motor Cycle Chlb, which has its headquarters in Wellington. The Auckland Club sent a message of sympathy with the movement for union. The following officers were elected for the new body (subject to their acceptance): President, Mr H. JM. Campbell; vicepresidents, Dr Redd Mackay, lan Simpson, H. B. Tucker and R. W. Daniel; executive council, Messrs C. P. Lindgrien Ch.aw.kes Bay M.C.C), Viaa-tan (South Hawses Bay M.CCi), Kerr (Manawatu. M.C.0.),' and F. J. Macdonald (N.Z.M.C.0.) Aiuckland' is to be asked to nominate one of its members to the council) and Wanga- | nui is to be approached for the same j purpose. |
Mr C. Bare Bridge (hbn. sec. N.Z. M.C.C.) was appointed, hon. secretary and treasurer of the union, and Mr Lindgrdem is to draw up rules. For the first year the permanent meeting place of the council Wjas fixed at Palfnierston but the official headquarters will' be the place of residence of 'thie secretary.
