TTMARU, Last Night. <■- The annual meeting, of iihe Farmers' Co-operative Association was ineid yesterday; and was largely ab- ■; tended. The balance sheet showed paid up capital £82,040, uncalled £82,854, reserves £51,117; flexed deposits £160,000, gross earnings £60,000, net £24,000." The sales were: Mernbandiiise . £276,000; grain £191,000, at auction £431,000, total' £898,0Q0, an increase of £16,450. ■j.iie profits (H«timbutted.ain dividends - and bonifees E&nce the inauguration of tlhe Assocclation amounted to £218,000. .The ,sthaireholderis number -2925, of wihomi 2400 hold J 1 to 5 •drccres. The employees total 252, and their salaries and wages amount to £22,853. The Association 'has just opened a new ihraaneh at'iFairlie. The chairman regretted the frequency with which the Association was affected by fire, .the latest being at Waimate, where oonisaderaMe damage was done. This, however, was corjened' by the insurance. All the retiring Directors were re-elected. On the motion of the chanlrnian, it was decided that in futuire the election of directors should .he by post, as in North Canterbury and North Otago. A necommendation. was passed that the Association should withdraw from the Stock Auctioneers' AssooiaM'on.
