PRICE OF GRASS-SEED.
It ims thought lagt soaison would see high-water miark of grasis-iseed value, ibut. there is every indication that there will be a considerable increase in prioe for the majority of grass and clover seeds. From reports to hand it appears that the European and American grass seed harvests have ibeen below the average, ■while the demand has been of an expanding nature. It is probable that an extension of spiring sowing will take place thus year in the South Ijsliand, partly by reason of the ravage® of the grass grub. iSome idea of the present shortage (may- bo gained from the fact that the 'best lines of white clover are at present worth £l5O a ton wholesale in New Zealand. In the ' United State si timothy seed has been selling at over a hundred per cent, above its normal price. The present shortage of New Zealand cocksfoot wiM be somewhat made up by the reshipment to New Zealand of lines exported to Britain from the Dominion two setasons ago.
