THE CHAMBER OF COMMERCE.
The Masterton Ghamiber of Commerce though it has done good work during the past year in the matter of the railway time-table and the Rimutaka deviation, has not displayed any considerable amount of animation in pushing forward the claims of the district. The fact is that the Ghiamlber has riot received that hearty co-operation and assistance from the business, community to which it is entitled. The great problem of closer settlement has remained' untouched tihrcuglhiout the year, and no concerted action has been taken hi the direction of fostering and developing local industries. Tihiese matters are "of pressing importance to this .community, and must not be allowed to lie dormant. It is to be hoped that the coming year will see a little greater vitality than an the past.
