THE LAND QUESTION.
Our Tinui correspondent hits the nail right-upon the head when he says that the. electors have the opportunity of solving the; land question at the ballot-box. The present Government, which arrogates to itself the name of "liberal," has been in power for this last twenty-one years, and, so far a& this district is concerned, has done absolutely nothing to secure the closer settlement of the land. It now purposes increasing the graduated land tax on estates of the value of £IOO,OOO, which, •means that these estates will be divided among the family, and nobody will be miuoh the ibetteir off. It is quite clear that the Ward Administration has not even a rudimentary knowledge of the requirements of the country. The sooner the elector© vote, it out of office, therefore, the .better will it be for the tfruture welfare of the State.
