The Preisddent (Mr Booth) reported that itbe canvass at Mosfcerton this year for donations, and trophies for the (forthcoming show exceeded last year's- Hist by £lB. Mr G. GacMa j tendered (his resignation as a istewrd, owing to business' engagements preventing him attending meetings. Dt was (resolved .to grant Mr Glaskin leave of absence until after the j dhow, and Mr H. 'Nielsen was- appointed to fill the vacancy in .the stewards. Mir John Mcßae, winner of the challenge cup last year, wrote returning same, as ihe .was iea-vSng the district. Fourteen mew members rwere elected!. It was decided to invite His Excellency iLordl Isliagiion to be present 'at the show,,, At a meeting of Natives in Carterton on Friday, it was' unaniraousr ly decided to retain a district n.urse jto travel from ipah .to pah aa required. At a meeting of Methodists held here on {Friday, it wasi decided! to make a special effort to wipe off a debit of £SO in the circuit, and for this purpose a gift auction is to be held near the end of the month. . ..The Featheraton and' Carterton literary Debating Societies meet at Carterton this evening in a debate on Mbnarchism .v. . fiepublicanisan. Mr J. T. M. Horn shy ■will act as jud|ge. Mt J. M. Beeohey, headmaster of the Oareville Siohbol, who Awas recently mlarried, was tendered a welcome ibtome social at the Oareville I HWI on Friday, when Mr and Mrs Beechey were (presented with a ha-nd-j some E.P. tea service, on a handsome silver mounted tray, the latter beta/ring th efollowing inscription upon a silver plate:— "Presented) to Mr J. M. Beechey by the residents of Oareville,,September 15th, 1911." Mr A. iPhdllpoitte, chairman of the . School Comanittee, .made ithie presentation, whfich was suitably acknow- . ledged by Mr Beechey. A musical and vocal programme added to the 1 pleasure of the evening, a dance winding up the proceedings.
