'MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE. The usual iflortngjhtly meeting of the Wairarapa Rugby Union was held at Carterton (last Saturday evenling Mr A. B. Charters presided.
After the minutes of ithe last meeting were read' and confirmed, correspondence was received:—■ From G. Blasikiville, Greytowm Cfliub, enclosing doctor's certificate that he was able to resume work, and declaring off it-he insurance Bund. Firom L. Welch, also statng thtalfc (be lhad' resumed' wlork, and declaring off the doctor's list. From tihe Wanigan.ua- Rugiby Union, ashing the Union's support to a comomiunication ttoey hiad sent the New Zealand Rugby Union re alterations' (to rtihe rules of the game to endeavour to make it more attractive)' and counteract the influence of the League game. It was ipoinited out that tihe annual meeting of .the New Zealand Unibn. Ttias ithe (proper place to move in /tfhis matter. The Setter was received. 'iFrom <the Greytown Club, asking permftsstion to present medals to? several of uhedi" players.— Granted. .From Featherston Club, asking that ithe Pearson Cup> match be fixed as early as possible.—[Referred to the ißed Star Club. From the jSblway IRecognition Fund Oommdttee, HhanMng the Union ifor assistance in the seven-a-sade tournament.
Cbnisideirable discussion took place with regard to the cancelling of the match 1 wffik'ch was- to have taken place with WeHlkigjton on Saturdiay last. From the correspondence it appeared tibat after arranging to play Wairarapa with) an A team and publishing names of same at the beginning of the week, the Wellington Rugby Union held a special meeWng later on in the week and decided to send the A team to play Marlborough, and meet Wairarapa with a iB team:. As no official commiunication fwias received from' the Wellington Unioni up to Friday last, notifying iahy'alteration, it was decided to .wire asking (what team would play Wairarapa, and' the reply received was that it would he a Wellington B team. TSpon receipt of this wire the local Union dlecided not to entertain {the proposal of playing a B team after making arrangement® to meet an A team, and notified Wellington of their withdrawal from the match. Later in the day, after the local Union had cancelled their arrangements', a telegram* was received from the Wellington Union giving the m'aanes of a- revised team, and concluding (by stating that it was an A It earn.—lt was decided to send a letter to the Wellington Rugby Union, giving the reasons for cancelling the match and view® of the local Union upon this matter, and asking (for an explanation re chopping and changing from an A to B team, and vice versa, witthouflnotifying iWairarapa in any way. During a lengthy discussion the opinion Was expressed that by offering, for iseveral iseasonsi past, to meet Wairarapa with a B team, .it looked as if the Wellington Rugby Union' had taken, npon themselves fthe task; of endeavouring to reduce Wkvirnrapa to practically the position of a Wellington isivb-umion.
