EIGHT-ONE WORKERS BELOW

(Received Last Night, 5.5 o'clock.)

LONDON, September 16. A fire occurred in, the Chesterlie Street colliery. Eighty-one workers were below at the time of the outbreak. The greatest anxiety prevailed until the men were rescued in batches of five through an up-cast air shaft. The damage is estimated at £IO,OOO.
