HUKANUI.
A smoke social was tendered to Messrs Dearl and Sahroeder, in the Hukanui Hal on Saturday evening. Mr Biliington was voted; to., the chiair. The proceedings opened with the toast of the King, proposed by the chairman. Other toaslts which ' followed were: "Array and Navy," Mr Uregory; "D'airy Farmers," Mr .'W. O. THyenty.man; "Sawmililer,s," Mr De Lore©; "Gue-sts," Mir Hunter; "Kindred Sports," Mr lßillington. Songs were rendered by Messrs O. Dallas, Quinllan, Pickering, Brown and 1 Harrington; miandblan gdkxs by Mesars Dearl and Schroedex; andi recitations by Messrs Mo Donald and Garrett. Mr Garrett accompanied, the Gangs on. the piano. Visitors were present from Nireah'a, Piahdatua and district. During the evening Mr Dearl wais presented wfiifli a case of pipes and tobacco : pouch, andi Mr Sdhiroeder with . a I safety razor and strop. The taMes ' Ware tastefully laid, and) decorated •with; flowers, uihicth reflects the 'greatest credit on the committee. Witlh the singing of "God Save the King," at midniigJi/t, an enjoyiable evening wias broug(b|t to a close. Mir Norton, post office auditor, was on an official visit to Hukaraui on Friday last.
